USPS to recognize healthcare community at Oct. 1 ceremony

The United States Postal Service will hold a ceremony Oct. 1 in Washington, D.C., for the nondenominated (73¢) Thank You Healthcare Community forever stamp.

The first-day ceremony will take place Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 2:30 p.m. at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 200 Independence Ave., SW., in Washington, D.C.

The ceremony is free and open to the public. Attendees must RSVP online by 5 p.m. on Sept. 30.

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy will be in attendance at the ceremony, along with Xavier Becerra, secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

In a press release announcing the ceremony, the USPS listed several professions involved in the healthcare community, including physicians, surgeons, dentists, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, lab technicians, orderlies, home health aides, hospital custodians, and emergency medical workers; as well as public health professionals, such as epidemiologists, microbiologists and data analysts.

The press release said that individuals in these professions “dedicate their lives to protect our health, safety and well-being, often at great personal risk.”

The Thank You Healthcare Community stamp will be issued in panes of 20. Bryan Duefrene served as art director and stamp designer for the issue.
