Nominations open for AFDCS Ward award
By Linn’s Staff
The American First Day Cover Society is accepting nominations through May 30 for the annual Philip H. Ward Jr. memorial award for excellence in first-day cover literature.
All works published in 2025 are eligible and can be submitted to the Ward award committee chair Mark Goodson at 315 E. Dewey St., Ellettsville, IN 47429-1901, or by email at bgdsn@comcast.net. Articles published in the AFDCS journal First Days are automatically considered.
The award will be presented at Americover, the annual convention of the AFDCS, held this year in conjunction with the Aug. 7-9 Balpex show in Linthicum Heights, Md.
The American First Day Cover Society is the largest not-for-profit first-day cover society in the world, with members in more than a dozen countries. It publishes an award-winning journal, First Days, six times a year; holds fundraising auctions; maintains a YouTube channel; conducts an annual cachetmaking contest; and encourages philatelic exhibiting and writing about FDCs.
More information about the Ward award, as well as a complete list of past winners, can be found on the AFDCS website at www.afdcs.org/Awards-&-Honors.
